London Oktoberfest

With more than 10,000 guests each year London Oktoberfest is the biggest Oktoberfest in the UK. This year a long weekend of fun with many specials at our venues you can experience everything that makes London´s Oktoberfest the best fun in town.

Celebrations to be held on 17-19th October in St Pauls Green at Hammersmith centralstation, this weekend includes the famous company events too. Furthermore, celebrations to be held 25-26th October in central Ealing Oktoberfest in Walpole Park.

London Literature Festival

The annual London Literature Festival returns with award-winning British rapper Ghetts as co-curator of the festival’s opening weekend. Lending his razor-sharp lyricism, humour and word play to two exclusive nights – Ghetts will perform live in the Royal Festival Hall (26 Oct) followed by an evening Ghetts Presents: An Evening of Music and Poetry at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (27 Oct) where he will be joined by the best of the city’s music and poetry scenes.

Additional Highlights include: An exclusive launch of British playwright and author Hanif Kureishi’s new memoir (31 Oct), alongside London exclusive events celebrating new works by Alan Hollinghurst (25 Oct), Susanna Clarke (26 Oct), Rupert Everett (26 Oct), Florence Given (27 Oct), Kiran Millwood Hargrave (31 Oct), Ekow Eshun (31 Oct) and Kevin Barry (2 Nov).

José Pizarro

Spanish chef José Pizarro has teamed up with Nordés gin for a week-long celebration at José Pizarro Broadgate Circle. From Monday 14th October to Saturday 19th October, guests are invited to come down and enjoy the collaborative menu featuring a variety of premium Nordés gin cocktails, each perfectly paired with authentic Galician bar snacks crafted by José and the Broadgate Circle team.

Hithe + Seek

To bring even more energy to the city evenings Hithe + Seek are reintroducing DJ Nights.  Every Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM guests will be able to enjoy Hithe + Seeks delicious menu against a perfect backdrop of an eclectic mix of tunes.

The Curling Club

London’s favourite winter, alpine-themed entertainment will open this week at London’s iconic Southbank Centre. Would love for City Matters to consider featuring.

  • Opening this Thursday 10th October, The Curling Club will return for its fourth consecutive year and run until 6th February 2025

  • The venue will offer state-of-the-art curling lanes, cozy decor and a vast range of delicious food and beverage options, as well as live entertainment and music

  • For the first time, the new Vinegar Yard Site will open on 1st November 2024 – 28th February 2025 and this larger, brand-new location with a 600-person capacity will offer an enhanced winter experience.

  • Eve Muirhead, a four-time Olympian and now Team GB’s Chef de Mission until the Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games in 2026, continues her role as The Curling Club ambassador and will host events across both sites

New Opening In The City

On Thursday 26th September, Cult Taiwanese restaurant BAO opened the doors to BAO City in the heart of London’s Square Mile, a new restaurant and flagship KTV (Taiwanese ‘karaoke TV’) experience. Located in Bloomberg Arcade, BAO City will serve sharing plates for big groups looking to feast, along with a menu featuring the very best of BAO’s much-loved Taiwanese classics, with a selection of BAOs and hot xiao chi hits. Frosty beer towers will be available for guests to order directly to the table so they can pour their own glasses at leisure, and BAO City will also feature a whisky cabinet, lined with regular guests’ personal bottles.

Langan’s Brasserie

Partnering with the renowned Wright Brothers for an exclusive seafood evening on Tuesday, 15th October. Priced at £150 per person, the event features an oyster masterclass by co-founder Ben Wright, followed by a bespoke seafood dinner curated by Langan’s Group Head Chef Benjamin Mellor, paired with wines selected by Head Sommelier Yann Prigent.

The evening includes an array of premium dishes like Bouillabaisse and a selection of fresh fish including grilled monkfish, Dover sole Meuniére and seabass en papillote, complemented by fine wines and a finale of a White Chocolate Dome with caviar. Newbie expands in the UK market with three new store launches in  Canary Wharf, Brent Cross and Guildford Autumn 2024. Newbie, the Swedish lifestyle brand specialising in Children’s apparel expands its UK presence and opened their fifth store in London’s Canary Wharf on Thursday 26 September. Newbie offers a complete wardrobe for children aged 0 months to 8 years, featuring hand-drawn patterns and a soft colour palette inspired by nature with a clear focus on sustainability.

FREE MEALS FOR KIDS AT F1® ARCADE THIS OCTOBER HALF TERM

The world’s first F1® experience venue will run the promotion from 28th October – 1stNovember where kids will be able to enjoy a free kid’s meal alongside every adult purchasing a main meal. Dishes available for the mini racers include Cheeseburger & Chips, Fried Chicken Tenders & Chips, Plant Based Burger & Chips, Pepperoni Pizza, Margherita Pizza and Macaroni with Tomato & Cheese. Children can also upgrade their free meal with either unlimited drink refills for £3.50 or an ice cream dessert for £2.50. The offer is valid for under 16’s only. Under 18’s are welcome into the venue before 6pm (London) / 8pm (Birmingham) Monday – Sunday and must be accompanied by an adult.

Fleet Street Quarter

From 21 October-1 November, Fleet Street Quarter, in partnership with social enterprise Class of Your Own, will host an October half term Out of School Club for children and young people aged 9-14 at The Fleot.  This fun learning programme aims to inspire young minds to build a greener world through real-life experience.

Running from 9am to 5pm and located at 10 New Bridge Street, ‘Class of Your Own’ half term autumn clubs are part of The Fleot a pioneering green and digital construction skills hub delivered by Community Coworking and a consortium of partner organisations.

Children will learn how to design, engineer and construct extraordinary net-zero buildings, ranging from homes to hospitality to healthcare. There’s even a ‘Centre for Our Planet’ (The COP), to teach young people about climate change. Participants will sketch, build, gain insights from professionals in the field and receive a certificate on completion.

The full four-day course costs £100 [£25 a day], and will run twice – from 21 October to 24 October and from 29 October to 1 November. The school is the perfect opportunity for aspiring architecture, engineering and construction professionals. There are only 20 spaces available each week on a first-come, first-served basis. Pizza Pilgrims launches newest spooktacular special – The Pumpkin and Spicy Salami pizza is here to bring all the cosy, spicy fall vibes with a bit of a Halloween twist! Spitalfields Market

The vibrant East London destination has long been an inspirational part of the capital where different cultures and communities from around the world have come together and creativity has thrived.

Kicking the month off is a free exhibition We Will Always Have Paris in 41 Brushfield Street, opening on Wednesday 2 October and running until Friday 11 October. A creative partnership between East London-based fashion designer Mei-Hui Liu, photographer Maryam Eisler and furniture designer Brodie Neill, the exhibition will feature photography from Eisler with Liu’s voluminous garments set against the ever-so-romantic Parisian backdrop. The space will also showcase Neill’s museum-grade benches made out of reclaimed materials.

FAWW Gallery proudly presents “The Nut Seller of Islington”, an Autumn exhibition running from 17 October to 17 November, featuring the bold, vibrant work of graphic designer Rusty O’Shacklewell, known artistically as Personality Crisis. Held at FAWW Gallery’s iconic original and fully restored k.67 kiosk in Spitalfields, the collection of work showcases a series of striking prints that celebrate the energetic fusion of London’s food, music, and nightlife scenes including world renowned restaurants BRAT, Noble Rot and Kiln to name a few. Each piece bursts with psychedelic color and captivating typography, evoking the sensory experiences of the capital.
