Here’s our pick of fabulous food spots to try this month.

E3 Vegan

E3 Vegan, a cafe and restaurant in Bow, East London, hosts a fine-dining supper club every Friday. Here’s our experience. When we stepped through the door at E3 Vegan we were greeted warmly by host Jordan and chef Marc. Whilst chatting away, we were offered a Summer G and T cocktail which was deliciously refreshing. We sat down at a long table alongside the other supper club guests. Before every course, Marc explained the dish in detail. The guests could ask him questions about its inspiration and it was clear how much thought had gone into every creation.

The homemade focaccia with foraged wild garlic puree and caramelised onion was delicious and we happily accepted a second piece. The first main course was panelle with Ajvar, tahini and a pickled pardon pepper, and the second, potato latke with a leek puree, horseradish crème and homemade pickles. Both were mouth-watering, however, my personal favourite was the cauliflower cannoli with labneh, zhug and a pickled cherry tomato. The outer shell was light and crispy, and the flavours complemented each other perfectly.

To top it all off, the gorgeous dessert was a mahalabi with a burnt strawberry and white balsamic gel with macerated strawberries and an aquafaba meringue. We were blown away by the fact that it was vegan, with the magic ingredient made from chickpea water substituting for the egg whites.

The Supper Club runs every Friday and the menu changes each week with exciting dishes. The food was presented beautifully and it was a pleasure to chat with such interesting people, making the evening an incredible fine dining experience. With a creative menu and a cosy interior, E3 Vegan offers a unique experience that everyone, regardless of their dietary preferences, will enjoy.

Lilienblum

For a unique twist on the classic Negroni, head to Lilienblum – one of London’s most theatrical restaurants, which simply oozes magic and innovation. Opt for the innovative and vibrant Pomegroni (£13) – consisting of gin, Campari, vermouth and pama – offering a delicate balance of sweet and bitter tasting notes, a perfect accompaniment to enjoy alongside the restaurant’s eccentric food dishes made from fresh, seasonal produce.

The Cardinal Bar & Kitchen

Located in the heart of ‘The Square Mile’ this spot oozes elegance and class with ease. As soon we stepped into this restaurant and bar we were greeted by a lovely team. The cocktails menu is fabulous, our tipple of choice is the Mojito – perfect on a summer’s afternoon. For starters, the tuna tartare is absolutely delicious – it’s fresh and light and the perfect start to a meal. The presentation of this dish is also superb. For mains, the roast chicken is cooked extremely well and is served in a truffle dashi sauce and green Oil. We loved the cheese board that was on offer too – a generous portion which is the perfect way to end a lovely meal at the joint. The service at this spot is fantastic, staff are attentive and make an effort to ensure that guests are looked after. This is a great hidden gem in the City that delivers on many variables.
