A Wine Flight Tasting Above the Clouds at 14 Hills

The most indulgent of menus has just been announced at 14 Hills. The fourteenth-floor bar & restaurant at the top of 120 Fenchurch Street has unveiled Sipping Through the Sky, a 5-course tasting menu, perfectly accompanied by a choice of two exquisite wine flights, showcasing wines from France, Australia, Austria, Hungary, New Zealand and Argentina.

The new 5-course tasting menu is now available from £100 for 5 courses, and 5 flights of wine, having been expertly curated to present the best from 14 Hills’ menu. Each dish has been reviewed by D&D London’s Head Sommelier, Massimiliano Balo, and matched to perfection with highlights from 14 Hills’ extensive wine list. Specially selected menu highlights include Jersey rock oyster with celery gratina. Fleur De Marais Salants goat’s cheese, with pine nuts and confit courgette, and Sea Bream with prawn fregola. A milk chocolate crèmeux, with morello cherries and Urfa chilla complete the tasting.

When pairing the most premium wine flight with the tasting menu, named Skyline Sippers, the menu begins with a glass of Lanson Père & Fils Brut Champagne to offer notes of white florals and baked biscuit, with fresh lime, lemon and apple flavours. Also to be served is Domaine Bouchie Pouilly-Fumé Pierre à Fusil, to offer an elegant and refined Sauvignon Blanc, with a lovely mineral finish. As well as a deliciously spicy Pinot Noir _by Greywacke_, a juicy drop from Marlborough with a smoky complexity.

The 5-course food menu is £65. Each wine flight menu, Cloud Nine Collection and Skyline Sippers are priced extra at £35 and £70 respectively. T&Cs are below. Walk-ins are available, but bookings are recommended at 14hills.co.uk

Counter 71

From 6 September, intimate 16-seater Shoreditch restaurant Counter 71 will be offering guests a special set menu paired with Saicho sparkling tea.

Redefining the art of traditional food pairing with wine, the 12-course set menu, paired with five Saicho serves, will take diners on a new of culinary journey paired not with wine, but with tea.

Just as wine enthusiasts revel in the art of pairing food with their favourite vintages, wine lovers are invited to explore the possibilities of pairing single-origin, premium sparkling teas with a tasting menu. Each variant – Jasmine, Hojicha and Darjeeling – present unique effervescent flavours influenced by factors such as terroir, climate and production techniques. By drawing this parallel, Saicho aims to broaden the horizons of tea appreciation and redefine the concept of food pairing.

The special pairing menu will run for six weeks at Counter 71 – 71 Nile St, London N1 7RD.
