Skylight may not have its famous rooftop ice rink this year, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t pumped to pay them a visit soon, as they makeover the entire space for Christmas.
Christmas at Tobacco Dock is a collection of outdoor and socially distanced festive eating and drinking experiences situated on the rooftop venue and at ground level across the Grade-1 listed warehouses and cobbled lanes of Tobacco Dock.
The iconic venue and event space is now home to a rooftop igloo village, spacious Après Ski Lodge bar, Off-Piste Speakeasy bar and Christmas Cocktail Cinema Experience.
A Bavarian-inspired menu is also available – and essential these days as Tier 2 restrictions force anyone who is drinking to have a substantial meal as well. So don’t fill up on snacks before heading here. Get all the food and booze together. We’ve got to be tactical (sand safe) this festive period.

The igloo village is located up at Skylight Rooftop, providing wicked views across the city’s skyline. Warmed with mini-heaters, these igloo-bubbles come with warming welcome drinks and alpine-inspired decor, featuring faux-fur rugs and thick blankets for extra cosiness. Guests can also take advantage of full table service and dedicated food and drink offering – of course, you still have to be from one household.
For those looking for some festive escapism, they even have a Christmas Cocktail Cinema. It’s showing back-to-back classic Christmas movies throughout the run, from Love Actually to Die Hard. The cinema will be an adults-only experience and will serve themed cocktails and gourmet snacks.
There are 2 new bars at Skylight too. Off-Piste – a secret speakeasy themed drinking den with exposed-brick walls and burnished copper wall fittings is an intimate space for those in search of a high-end cocktail hideaway.
And the mighty Après Ski Lodge on Skylight Rooftop’s level 9, which has undergone a chalet makeover – with generously spaced low-lit benched seating, Christmas trees and snug sheepskins.
Under Tier 2 restrictions, indoor bookings (including igloos) are available for same-household groups and support bubbles of up to 6 people. Outdoor bookings are available for mixed household groups of up to 6 people. This is one of the few Christmas pop ups we’ll be lucky enough to try this year – so get booking ASAP.
