Piazza Italiana

If you’re looking for a beautiful spot for dinner, then Piazza Italiana is the place to try. Situated in the heart of the City, in the grade II listed venue on Threadneedle Street in the former British Linen Bank. There is no doubt in my mind that you’ll be blown away by its stunning opulence – with high ornate ceilings, exquisite chandeliers, Neoclassical Corinthian columns and floor-to-ceiling arched windows, allowing natural daylight to shine in.

If you’re a truffle fan, you will be spoilt for choice. I would highly recommend trying their Tagliolini Al Tartufo, the tagliolini with truffle sauce is spun in a pecorino wheel at the table. This dish is rich and indulgent but perfectly portioned. For dessert the tiramisu is a must. Piazza Italiana is an incredible addition to London’s bustling dining scene. Great service, amazing food, and stunning interiors – what are you waiting for?

Wahaca

If you’re a fan of Mexican food, then you need to head on over to Wahaca. If you’re feeling hungry, why not start with the nachos. They come as a very generous sized portion and can be topped with chorizo. The small plates at Wahaca are a firm favourite here at City Matters, and are great for sharing. The tacos are also fabulous. If you’re in the mood for trying the small plates then the great selection of taquitos and quesadillas are also good options. With so many great small plates on the menu you really are spoilt for choice. But, if you’re in the mood for a larger meal they have a good selection of burritos. The cocktails are superb and well-worth a try. However, you cannot leave this place without trying the churros with the chocolate sauce, of course. This restaurant boasts a lovely casual setting that is the perfect place for a weeknight bite with a friend.

Ping Pong

Situated a short walk from St Paul’s station, Ping Pong is the perfect restaurant for dim sum lovers. This restaurant provides consistently great food which is cooked to perfection. The handmade dim sum selection at Ping Pong is fantastic, whether you are in the mood for chicken or tofu they have got you covered. However, if you’re in the mood to try something else, the duck baos are superb. They come as four fluffy white steamed buns served with shredded duck, pickled ginger, fresh cucumber, crispy shallot and hoi sin sauce. The spicy vegetable dumplings are cooked extremely well and are a great addition to your table. Dining at Ping Pong is always a wonderful experience and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. With so many choices on the menu, there really is something for everyone. However, if you’re specifically in the mood for dim sum – this is the place to try!
