The City certainly has no shortage of great pizza restaurants to check out. The team at City Matters have been hard at work finding some tasty recommendations for you to add to your list. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to grab a delicious pizza on your lunchbreak or you’re looking to make an evening of it with cocktails and sharing platters, we’ve got the right slice for you!

Pizza Union – Spitalfields

Where in London can you get a menu full of various fire-baked roman style 12-inch pizzas, all for under £9, we’ve found it and it’s called Pizza Union. Located a four-minute walk from Liverpool Street station its perfect for when you need to stagger back after copious amounts of crispy, flavour filled pizzas. But what do they have? If you’re looking for the classic margherita then it’s only £5.95, perhaps you’re looking for stronger flavours then try the formaggi with gorgonzola or maybe you’re after something with a little heat in it, the calabria with nduja spicy sausage is for you. Paired with some garlic herb or hot chilli sauce and you’re looking at a meal to make you smile, all without breaking the bank.

But that’s not all, maybe you’re looking for a lighter option, Pizza Union has you covered. Try out their rucola and spinaci salads, bursting with natural flavours they’ve not left any menu item off their quality testing, both for under £5. We went into Pizza Union after hearing about their incredible food and service but we weren’t ready for the amazing experience that has blown us away, we can’t wait to go back soon.

Pizza Pilgrims – Liverpool St

If you’re in the mood for some seriously good pizza then it’s without a doubt that you need to check out Pizza Pilgrims. With a few dotted around the City, our Pizza Pilgrims of choice is the Liverpool Street Branch. On arrival, you’ll notice how pleasant and welcoming the staff are. For drinks, the Classic Negroni is a wonderful choice but if you’re more of a Aperol enthusiast then be sure to opt for the Aperol Spritz – perfect for the summer nights. For starters, the smoked mozzarella bites, rolled in a light breadcrumb & fried to cheese-pull perfection are absolutely divine. The cacio e pepe balls are also another great addition to the table. If you’re after a slice of margherita heaven then it’s almost mandatory that you try the margherita extra-extra. However, if you like you’re pizza with a bit of a kick, then the nduja is a great option. However, the star of the show for the team at City Matters is the Ferrero Rocher Espresso Martini. This classic espresso martini with hazelnut liquor and served with a Ferrero Rocher is perfect for those social media shots but also tastes absolutely delicious. The service at this spot is also fantastic and we highly recommend adding this place to your list of joints to visit for an exceedingly good slice or two of pizza.

Pasta e Pizza

We couldn’t put together this list of fantastic pizza spots and not mention Eataly. We are huge fans. If you’re in the mood for pizza, then this place is a great shout. The pizza’s are generously sized and cooked to perfection. This restaurant is classy and a perfect option for date night or pizza with friends. The service is also fabulous, staff are both attentive and friendly. The dessert menu is also great and worth checking out.

Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana – Shoreditch

Right around the corner from Shoreditch Station, you’ll find a brand new branch of Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana. Rudy’s have recently been making a name for themselves across London and further afield by offering up a slice of Naples at their relaxed neighbourhood pizzerias. If you’re looking for a pizza joint with a laid back atmosphere, friendly staff and affordable prices, then look no further.

Their delicious Aperitivos are the perfect way to kick things off! You can stick with a classic like an Aperol Spritz or you can twist with a Blood Orangecello Mimosa. They have plenty of refreshing non-alcoholic options too, such as Crodino – a sparkling bittersweet Aperitivo.

As for the main event, their Pizzas taste as incredible as they look! With everything from a spicy Calabrese, topped with nduja sausage, to a rustic Porchetta with roast pork and sage roasted potatoes, Rudy’s have covered all the bases! They also offer tasty vegan options like the Agnello Vegana, which features plant based lamb as well as tender stem broccoli and basil infused vegan cheese sauce. If you’d like any extras, we recommend trying the chilli honey, a sweet and spicy dip that will get your taste buds buzzing. When it comes to dessert, you’re in for a treat. Their traditional Tiramisu, made fresh every day, will guarantee that your Italian feast ends on a high note. You can also keep it simple with their mouthwatering Gelato or their Affogato to get your caffeine boost in the tastiest way possible. By the time you’re done you’ll feel like you’ve been to Naples!

Franco Manca – Broadgate Circle

If you’re in need of a pizza spot that oozes casual vibes and delicious pizza then head to your nearest Franco Manca. We were seriously impressed by not only the pizza menu selection but by the wonderful sides and starters on offer at this restaurant. For starters, the garlic bread and olives make a great choice. For mains, the roasted cured ham, mozzarella, ricotta & wild mushrooms pizza is absolutely divine. If you do have room left for dessert then it’s without a doubt that you should try the tiramisu. Each dish is generously portioned and the price point at this pizza joint makes it very affordable. This restaurant is also amazing for those who are dining with small children, the kids menu is excellent and great value for money. The service at this branch is absolutely magnificent, with speedy and attentive staff. Most certainly a pizza spot that is worth visiting with the whole family.
