To celebrate the 125th anniversary of London’s landmark, Tower Bridge, designers, artists, architects, engineers and enthusiasts are being called upon to share their vision for London’s skyline 125 years from now.
Entrants are invited to step into the shoes of Bridge architect Sir Horace Jones and civil engineer Sir John Wolfe Barry, to stand on the riverbank and look westwards towards Tower Bridge and the City and imagine the cityscape of the future.
From soaring skyscrapers through to flying cars, no matter how ambitious, farfetched or downright weird your idea, Tower Bridge is asking the pioneers of tomorrow to help imagine the capital cityscape.
Free to enter, competition entries must be submitted by 10.00am on Thursday 25 July 2019 in a 2D format and no larger than A3. The winner will be announced in August and the top range of prizes include:
- The winning design displayed inside the Bridge
- A chance to take the controls and operate your very own Bridge Lift
- An exclusive Behind the Scenes Tour of the Bridge
- A ride on the Thames Sailing Barge Lady Daphne, an historic wooden sailing vessel built in 1923
- a selection of special edition Tower Bridge gift items.
Chris Earlie, Head of Tower Bridge, said: “As we celebrate the engineering feat of Tower Bridge, we want to encourage the next generation of innovators and visionaries to shape London’s ever-changing landscape.
“Central to the capital’s iconic skyline, its industries and to its cultural heritage, the Bridge has seen so much change in the City throughout the century and we look forward to seeing what our visitors envision for the next 125 years.“
