Earlier this month, the new Lady Mayoress of the City of London, Florence King, lit up the City of London’s iconic hidden gem Leadenhall Market, kickstarting the Victorian market’s Christmas celebrations.

The much-loved annual Christmas lights switch-on ceremony included pyrotechnic firework fountains and unveiled the full splendour of Leadenhall Market’s giant real Christmas tree, which sits under the breathtaking central atrium depicting a starry night sky.

The 18-foot-tall glittering Christmas tree is decked with a colour changing LED light display, complementing the large red and gold baubles and beautiful fir tree garlands throughout the market. A twinkling light tunnel brings festive cheer to Beehive Passage, tempting visitors to explore the shops, restaurants and bars nestled in the cobbled alleyways of Leadenhall Market.

Shoppers were treated to live music from Super Tenants who sang a range of seasonal songs.

Leadenhall Market and its shops, bars and restaurants are open in the run up to Christmas, with pop-up Christmas weekend markets taking place on Saturday 16 November, Sunday 24 November, and Saturday 7 December.
