Roads around the Walkie Talkie building have reopened after Fenchurch Street was shut down this morning while police investigated how a woman was hit by a lorry.

Police cordoned off the area to traffic in both directions just after 7.40am on Monday following reports of a collision between a female pedestrian and a vehicle near the junction of Philpot Lane and Fenchurch Street.

According to a statement from a City of London police spokesperson: “Officers attended with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) and a woman has been taken to a local hospital in a serious condition. Her injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening.

“A section of Fenchurch Street, between Philpot Lane and Aldgate, has been closed off to traffic while officers carry out their investigation. No arrests have been made.”

Police reopened the area to traffic at 12.30pm.
