Farringdon is among the first of the Underground stations to receive new purple Elizabeth line roundels, along with Tottenham Court Road and Custom House, in a significant milestone for Europe’s largest infrastructure project.
However, the roundels will remain under wraps until the opening of the new railway this December, when 10 new step-free stations will be open to the public.
“The Elizabeth line will truly transform travel across London and the South East,” said Val Shawcross, deputy Mayor for transport. “The installation of the roundels incorporating Transport for London’s iconic design shows how close we are now to the line opening.”
The new Crossrail stations and travel links are expected to boost the economy by £42billion and support thousands of new jobs and homes.
