The City of London Corporation has elected a new Planning and Transportation Committee Chairman.
The Corporation voted in Shravan Joshi on April 26.
Joshi will now lead on all planning issues affecting the Square Mile including leading the discussion and debate on planning permissions for new developments in the City.
His role will also cover the City Corporation’s Transport Strategy and its responsibility as highway authority, ensuring that the City and its residents, workers and visitors enjoy safe streets and a world-class public transport system.

The City Corporation’s Climate Action Strategy will also take centre stage throughout his term with increasing global interest in the complex debate over new development versus retrofitting existing buildings.
Joshi will be responsible for the reshaping of the City Corporation’s City Plan 2040, which is currently being reconsidered to take into account the changing ways in which space is used.
Joshi said: “I am grateful to have been trusted by elected Members with the stewardship of the Planning and Transportation Committee and I look forward to working inclusively and constructively with the Committee throughout my term as Chairman.
“I also look forward to working alongside the City’s unique blend of residents, workers, visitors, businesses, charities, courts and other civic institutions.
“We currently have a unique opportunity to shape the Square Mile’s built environment around the emergence from lockdown, while holding firm on delivery of our Climate Action and Transport Strategies.”
