The Lord Mayor of London, the Lady Mayoress and the Policy Chair of the City of London Corporation have visited the Square Mile’s dedicated vaccination centre to encourage Londoners to get their COVID-19 booster and flu jabs this winter.
The Boots pharmacy, located at 120 Fleet Street, has vaccinated 12,000 City residents and workers against COVID-19 since it began offering the jab in April.
It is now supporting the NHS to deliver COVID-19 first, second doses, boosters and flu vaccinations to those who are eligible.
Lord Mayor of London, Vincent Keaveny, said: “We do not yet know how serious the Omicron variant may be, so it is important all of us do as much as possible to prevent its spread.
“This means testing regularly, following the law by wearing a face covering in shops and on public transport, and washing our hands frequently too.
“We continue to urge all eligible Londoners to get their COVID-19 first and second doses, boosters and flu jabs as soon as possible.
“Vaccination is our best protection against both viruses and will help reduce severe illness and hospitalisation this winter.”

COVID booster jabs are to be offered to all over-18s in the UK, with children aged 12 to 15 invited for a second jab, as part of a major expansion of the vaccine programme.
Please wait to be contacted when eligible for your booster but if you have not had your first or second dose then please do not delay and book today.
City of London Corporation Policy Chair, Catherine McGuinness, said: “COVID-19 cases are rising across London and the new Omicron variant means getting vaccinated is now more important than ever.
“We know that both coronavirus and flu can be deadly viruses, so everyone who is eligible should get their COVID-19 first, second doses or their booster and flu jabs as soon as possible.”
Those over 40 can now book a vaccination appointment at the Boots pharmacy at 120 Fleet street by visiting nhs.uk/wintervaccinations or ringing 119. This is not a walk-in clinic, a vaccine appointment must be booked before arrival.
All COVID vaccines are available free of charge from the NHS. You will never be asked to pay for a vaccination and everyone in an eligible group can be vaccinated regardless of whether they are registered with a GP or their immigration status.
The vaccines have been through rigorous clinical trials, tested on hundreds of thousands of people in the UK and worldwide, and have been approved by the British Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
Parag Oza, Area Manager for Boots in London, added: “It has been an honour for Boots to support the NHS roll out COVID-19 vaccinations, including the vitally important boosters.
“Our pharmacists at our Fleet Street store have administered thousands of vaccines to people living and working in the Square Mile, as well as offering free NHS and private COVID-19 testing services.
“We encourage all those who are eligible for the booster or have not yet had their first or second dose to book as soon as possible.
“There are plenty of appointments at our Fleet Street store and we also offer the flu jab here too. In fact, if you are over 50 or have an underlying health condition, when you get your first or second dose or booster with us we can also give you a free NHS flu jab at the same time.”
