Chris Hayward has been re-elected uncontested as the Chairman of the City of London Corporation’s Policy and Resources Committee.
He said he is “honoured to serve as Policy Chairman”, and will continue the Square Mile’s revitalisation as a world-leading destination and driver of economic growth.
In 2013, Mr Hayward was first elected to the Common Council of the City of London Corporation and subsequently served as Chairman of the City Corporation’s Planning & Transportation Committee and as Sheriff of the City of London from 2019 – 2021.
Mr Hayward is the de facto political leader of the City Corporation and has overseen the Destination city programme, the Square Mile’s growth strategy aiming to deliver a seven-day-a week City that is a global magnet for businesses and people.

In a statement, he said: “I am honoured to serve as Policy Chairman of this great organisation.
“With a record 615,000 workers in the City, we will continue to steer the Square Mile’s revitalisation as a world-leading destination and major driver of economic growth.
“As competition among global cities increases, so does my commitment to ensuring the City Corporation does the upmost to deliver a first-class financial centre that attracts the world’s best talent.
“Together we will use our resources to forge a successful future for our businesses, residents, visitors, and the diverse communities we serve across the country.”
