England’s semi-final match in the 2022 Women’s Euros will be shown on big screens to 5,000 fans in Trafalgar Square, Sadiq Khan has announced.
Sarina Wiegman’s squad secured their place in the semi-final with a dramatic extra time victory over Spain in Brighton on Wednesday.
The Lionesses will now take on the winner of Sweden versus Belgium in Sheffield on Tuesday July 26 to determine who will go on to the final.
Following the incredible win on Wednesday, the Mayor of London announced that Trafalgar Square would host a screening of the semi-final match at 8pm on July 26, with 5,000 free tickets available on a first-come first-served basis.

“With EUROs fever gripping the country, I am delighted that thousands of Londoners and visitors will be able to come together and cheer the team on to glory on Tuesday night.”
England became one of the favourites to win the tournament following a series of dominant displays in the group stages, including an 8-0 thumping of two-time European champions and one-time World Cup winners Norway.
A win on Tuesday would see England progress to their first Euros final since 2009.
Anyone wishing to attend the screening must register their interest on the london.gov website by 5pm on Monday July 25.
